2 ohm vs. 4 ohm speakers

I’m looking to replace the stock speakers, front and back, in my no frills XL. I have read that some people use 2 ohm speakers and others if used 4 ohm speakers. Is there a better choice? I do not plan on putting an amp in, or subwoofers. I just want a better, richer sound from the stock stereo. What speakers have others used? I am not replacing the tweets.

Don't run your 4 ohm amp with 2 ohm speakers - the amp will need more power to drive the speakers at higher volumes and yes you can fry the amp, it also won't sound as good as 4 ohms. Also you need to fool around with the wiring if you were going to keep the 4ohm tweeters and replacing the woofers with 2 ohm ones as you have a mismatch, whatever xover is involved by default has one ohm rating. There's really not much to be gained, if you want to upgrade the woofers then stick w/ 4 ohms.
Thanks for the reply. I will not be using an amp, just doing a direct replacement. That is the basis of the question. Some said to do 2 ohm as a direct replacement, some said 4 ohm. I’m looking for better sound out of the stock radio, and I have no specs on its output.
