I have just received notification from my dealer that my 2.5 Hybrid XL is at the dealer. I have a copy of the MSRP Window sticker.

Problem is, my dealer is in NJ and I am here in FL. I will be doing the deal long distance.

The truck will be garaged in Morrisville, PA with only delivery miles on it. I am 8 miles from the dealer. So approximately 20 miles?

Truck has: Floor liners w carpeted mats $175.00
Full size spare $115.00
Bed mat - removable $140.00
Total options $430.00
Base Price $22,195.00
Destination & Delivery $ 1,495.00

GRAND TOTAL $24,120.00

The dealer is preparing a 21 days temp license tag and I am not going to register it.

Who wants it? What's your best cash offer? There's no loan on it, you would be the first registered owner.

Well things have changed since I last bought a vehicle. I thought I would get a bill of sale and a 30 day temp tag to drive it from NJ to FL where I would be able to register it or sell it! Turns out you cannot do that anymore. My NJ dealer is charging me FL sales tax and registration and all the BS, like documentation fee and various other little things, and now the truck is costing me $26,828.27.

Anyway, lesson learned. They get you some way or the other. The dealer sends the money to Florida, they in turn send the plates and the title back to the dealer, who then sends it to me? Go figure.

Can I now sell it for $1.00? So that the next buyer doesn't have to pay sales tax again? Does anybody know the procedure?

You may be able to "gift" it but I know that was a relatively old loophole. Not sure if it works. I'm interested. I'm in the upstate NY area but have family in the philly area so I'm very familiar with morrisville and go there often. Will you take $24k cash for it?

Don't think that's legal at all. You can gift it but not for that amount of money. There are gift limits as well. Good luck!

I'm not exactly sure but maybe look up and check to see if it is a gift I think that's the only way you can do it but don't take my word for it I'm not positively sure
