Configuration help - rethinking order

Things I know I want:

XLT, Cactus grey, hybrid, fwd

With trailer hitch, spray in liner, touch lights, 400w plug, manual rear glass

So my conundrum is do I pay the extra $1600 to add the lux package (only $1600 because of feature overlap from why I must have)

The lux package would add heated seats, heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, power driver seat, remote start fob, painted mirrors, extra plug-in for the bed, locking rails

I'm pretty sure I can simply use the free ford pass to remote start the car. Remote start is also important to me.

I'm just not sure $1600 is worth the heated items, rails, plug in and one extra light (I'm already adding on the touch lights)

Would love everyone's thoughts

I currently live in Texas but may be in colder climates (Colorado) in a couple of years

I updated my order to the luxury package. I figured if I didn’t, I might regret not having heated seats and remote start.

Just curious if you thought about using Ford pass to remote start vs the key fob
Assuming you can afford to go with either choice, flip a coin into the air, and let it fall to the ground. While the coin is on its way down, you'll know how YOU want it to land. Do whatever that is.

Yes, assuming I have my phone with me. I’ve also heard there can be a lag time.

Remote start is critical for me, too. What I'm not sure of is whether the Ford Pass app requires the internet connection in the car to be active. If so, that stinks, as it's only free for 3 months, and the food you have to pay for it (thru AT&T).

Does anyone know?

The paid service is only for the hotspot functionality. The FordPass remote connectivity is provided free by Ford.

95% of the time, it works great for me. When it doesn't work, it doesn't work- at all. ;-)

It uses cellular.
If you think you'll be in a cold climate, heated seats are the way to go. I love them in the winter for sure. I went xlt Lux then later upgraded to lariat lux. Its not really the best play for the mav but I like stuff. Plus more spots to hide speakers.

Push button start also, not really an aftermarket add best I can tell.

It's a hard call. My build is similar--XLT with spray-in bed liner and trailer hitch--and I opted not to get the luxury package. Like you, I think all those extras sound nice, but nothing quite adds up to being worth the extra $1750 or so. I'm pretty sure that if I was buying my configuration off the lot and the dealer offered to install the heated stuff, power outlets, etc., for $1750 I would decline, which tells me that it is not worth it for me.

To complicate matters, you would get some of that value back when you sell the vehicle. I'm guessing I'll have my Maverick for 5 years or so (I think we are going to see a lot of really compelling new choices in that time period, starting with plug-in hybrids and fully electric variants), so when I sell it I'll get maybe 1/2 or a bit more of my money for the upgrades back in increased value. Is it worth somewhere more like $800 to have those options for 5 years, with the remainder refunded when I sell? That's a harder offer to turn down than the $1750.

Another way that I look at it is to consider the overall value. At $25k (including destination, but excluding taxes, fees, etc.) I feel like my build is a really compelling choice. Bump it up a couple thousand more and it starts to get harder to compare with a midsize truck. Before prices went out of control I remember my local dealer having some pretty decent Colorado builds for about $31k or $32k advertised price.

For now I'm still sticking with the base XLT + select options, but the luxury package is pretty tempting. I can't guarantee I won't switch before my order is scheduled. Good luck finding the balance that is right for you!

I have a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid with every option that was available in 2017. I have remote start with key fob and with ford pass. I am not a fan of ford pass. I have started and locked my car with it; but a lot of times the app just spins and nothing happens. When it's cold outside and I want to start my car prior to getting in; having a reliable app would be nice; the ford app is clunky.
Things I know I want:

XLT, Cactus grey, hybrid, fwd

I would pay for the luxury package. I don't think you will regret it. I have a 2017 Fusion Platnium Hybrid with every option available. I don't regret what I paid and I use every feature that Ford has.

Sync 3.4 models (2020 and newer) work much better with FordPass.

I agree with you. I hate the fact that you need to order luxury package just to get Sirius radio, no thanks
