According to their sources, TFL is reporting that the Maverick could be based on the Bronco Sport and it will have a hybrid option.

They say the hybrid powertrain will be related to the Escape which has a 2.5L IVCT Atkinson Cycle I-4 Hybrid Motor, FWD or AWD with an eCVT transmission. It produces 200 hp and has 44 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

Lastly they say their source told them the base starting price could be around $19,995.

The section on the Maverick starts at 4:21 of the video.

Not trying to be a [email protected]$$, but if the hybrid Maverick truck is priced close to $30K, then it will be too expensive...

Right now, the Ranger is too expensive, relative to a discounted F-150. Right now (and pretty much always) the discounted F-150 XL STX SuperCrew 4WD can be had (with the 2.7L EcoBoost) here in Houston for about $35K --> I realize everyone doesn't want a huge F-150 or larger Ranger, but the Ford truck pricing is getting out of sync

Yours is a very good post; things are getting insane.

The income levels of the majority of Americans is stagnant at best, and today's vehicles are being built, and priced, in a way that doesn't match this reality.

"Well...people are still buying new vehicles"

And record numbers of American's have missed their mortgage payments.

A Maverick that's priced just below the 20k mark would sell like hotcakes.

(And if a slightly cheaper Ranger were equipped with a manual transmission, and a normally aspirated 2.5L engine, I would have already bought one)

I think Ford definitely knows they screwed up big time on the base price of the Ranger . And they didn’t want to fall flat on their face twice by pricing the base Maverick the same way .
It definitely seems that the Ranger has the same problem as before , it’s priced too Close to the F150 and is lacking in sales .

I grew up having an older gen ranger, and loved the size. When I heard that they were bring back the Ranger, I was so excited. Then I saw how much it would be, including building it out, and gave up on owning my own truck.
The Maverick has been a lifeline to my truck-owning wish. It’s nearly the same size of an older Ranger and gets amazing MPG. I just wish the new Maverick was called a Ranger ha.
