The Ranger is a dud. All subcompact cars are gone.
The Ranger is a huge dud . Because Ford made both the truck and the price way to big . The only people I know that are buying them are the ones that can buy it as Business truck so they can write it off on their taxes . Greed put them into a very bad predicament because now they have to figure out how to lower the price of the truck or come up with all kinds of incentives to motivate sales .

Huh? right now you cant even hardly find a Ranger on any lot and if you do, will probably pay over MSRP for it. Granted this is the situation with many trucks. You get pretty much zero incentives on Ranger currently. Some $500 student cash or something, only if you are a student. a couple of other minor things. Go check Carmax or Carvana, they pretty much start at 30k used.

It's very similar size to the mid size competition btw. Only the Maverick (not counting Santa Cruz) is an outlier now, but we dont know if the Mav will even sell.

also I believe the ranger sold about 100-120,000 per year which may pale compare to the F-150, but still handily beats most cars as far as I know. You have to put yourself in Ford's shoes. There's a reason they went Truck, SUV, and Mustang only, because that's where the profit is, and I'm guessing the Ranger does quite nicely for them compared to anything but the F-150. IIRC the first year projections for the Maverick are well under 100k.

Well, the Maverick has already demanded over 36,000 copies to be made, all without one consumer test drive; yup, that says it won't sell. I say it's exactly what a lot of people, like many here, have been looking for. Most people don't need big trucks, and I suspect many buy them just to keep up with the trend and because they have full frames and you sit up higher.
I loved my Rangers and would have loved it if Ford had kept them in production at the size they had been. I don't need my Ram but for a few things which I might need to acquire from the home improvement store, and the Maverick can still do that. It can do 95% of that while still providing better fuel economy, better handling, more maneuverability, and do that while still keeping more money in my pocket.
The problem with mid-sized trucks is that while they're now too close to the size and pricing of a full-sized truck. They sell, and probably because they're a bit more affordable than a big truck, and more maneuverable. Sure, the Maverick can be equipped and sticker at a pretty high price for being so small; but for a fairly well equipped base model with AWD, you can still option a few things into it can keep a brand new vehicle in your budget. That's a challenge to do with even some of the base model small cars today.

Where are you pulling that from? Someplace dark and stinky, obviously. Ranger is selling quite well for Ford, and is quite profitable. It is directly inline, in size, price and performance, with other midsize trucks.

I really don't get the Ranger hate on this forum. As though it and the Maverick MUST cancel eachother out or something. It's very bizarre. Do Escape owners hate Edge owners? Lol

Right Now all the American truck manufacturers are making very nice looking and well built trucks . The Maverick is the only Fugly truck in the whole line up, but it’s also the only truck price right for the poor people or the people that don’t want to spend $35,000+ for a truck .
The hate for the Ranger even though it’s a nice looking and very well built truck . Is we were all waiting for the Ranger to be the size of Maverick . And they built it the size of the F150 and also put a very greedy price tag on it . I wish our government would get rid of the chicken tax on trucks .

Personally I think the current Ranger is the only truck to give the current Silverado a run for its money in an ugly contest. It looks like a goldfish in the front. Maverick looks pretty alright. All the forward leaning styling/stancing midsize trucks have sucks majorly.

Chicken tax is bad though. Allow foreign UTEs to compete.

The looks of today's trucks is subjective, as I don't consider many of today's trucks as attractive. Trucks used to have clean and simple designs; some today are laden with fake scoops and complex designs that they no longer are simple and clean; just overwrought.
I'll even go on the record to say I think they could have done a little better with the Mavericks front end. I'm not a fan of the headlamp design making it identifiable to the F-series. It should have had a look of its own making it instantly identified as nothing else but a Maverick. I guess, in some way it is that, but I'd have liked to have seen better.
And what do you have against poor people? Are they not entitled to have a choice which includes an affordable truck for a new vehicle purchase?
Having had four Rangers, I too had hoped for a more practical and affordable replacement; Ford chose to do otherwise. But the Maverick is the right option for those of use who don't need the capability of the larger options, nor the costs. The fact its options are limited and therefore the lower cost makes it more appealing to first-time and low budget buyers means Ford might have a very good chance of recouping their development costs for future investment into the next generation. It also mean those like myself who don't need the larger choices, don't need or want the tech and toys they offer, nor feel a need to impress the neighbors with the size and sticker price of our new truck can actually get what we've been waiting for; a truck which better fits into our daily lives.

I think the back of a 4x4 Ranger is ugly in that it looks as tall as it is narrow. absolutely hate the high sides of current pickups. The Maverick is better but really not low enough yet. Bring back the height of the original Ranger.

The proportions of the Ranger were very nice. With the requirements and engineering for the Maverick, it may have dictated where the lines fell. Perhaps only Ford engineers know. I do think the wheels/tires look a little small for the body, just as I do for the Bronco Sport, too.

I agree I think new Rangers, and chevy colorados too, are ugly from the backside - they looked jacked up too tall for how wide they are.

I have a hard time finding anything to compliment on either of those. The canyon looks all right though, although it does suffer from some of the same issues as its sister the Colorado
