My understanding of the process is a VIN isn’t created until a build date is set. So perhaps one of the below situations apply. All of these ideas could be wrongHmmm, I have a VIN number the dealer sent me after I asked about scheduling but when I enter it on the Ford site there is nothing showing but Order Confirmed. It does show my VIN number on the Ford site. No production date or scheduling. Zippo, nada.
They have a VIN so it could be one of their stock units they have confirmed for a build date. Since Ford isn’t taking reservations I guess dealers can pre-sell their builds now.Maybe I missed a post, but is this truck for real or just a phony.

They have two XL's advertised with a $3000+ difference in price. Both are well optioned AWD. I can't see the difference. They have a VIN so it could be one of their stock units they have confirmed for a build date. Outrageously over priced though, and still a pre order at that. Since Ford isn’t taking reservations I guess dealers can pre-sell their builds now.
I guess you are correct that they aren’t marked up. Just crazy as my XLT hybrid is $24kThey have two XL's advertised with a $3000+ difference in price. Both are well optioned AWD. I can't see the difference.
Thanks. I have the AWD Lariat w/4K tow.My understanding of the process is a VIN isn’t created until a build date is set. So perhaps one of the below situations apply. All of these ideas could be wrong
1. You had 4K tow package with FWD and need to change your build
2. Your order was part of the “clean up” builds and getting shifted to a different part of October. I presume your new build date will come out September 2nd.
3. There may be an unforeseen complications, and the build date is now TBD. Probably another shortage of some kind. But it should be resolved sooner than later since they gave you the VIN.
4. Web site is broke and doesn’t spit out your build date.
Just so you know, no one’s orders have been showing up in our Ford accounts. You should get an email though confirming your order.I placed an order for the XLT AWD with 4k package. It is not showing up on my Ford account as yet. The dealer did contact me but the progress is slow at this point. I think I will have to wait until it goes into production and if I am lucky sometime next year. My choice is XLT AND 4000K with luxury package. Old man wants is last vehicle for what it's worth and not a penny over. List price with options I choose comes in at about 33000.
Upon putting in the order, Ford will send an email confirming that the dealer placed the order on your behalf. It will tell you what the next steps are (order scheduled for production with vin, vehicle produced, vehicle shipped). Your next email from Ford will give you a projected build week/date and vin. The date could change. Once you get the vin, you can plug it and your order number into the website in the link below and get more info. If you've gotten nothing back, its not unusual. I'm sure the factory is swamped with orders, what with the Maverick order banks full and the plant in Mexico where they build the Maverick also builds the Escape, Bronco Sport and Mustang Mach-e, so they have to work around all that and the various supply and microchip issues.I reserved my Maverick back in June. I received the email from Ford confirming it; however, when I log into Ford.com and click Reservations & Orders, it says there are none. Is this common, or should I be concerned?
