Getting order through dealer

1893 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  WNYEscapee
I did my reservation with Ford and was contacted by the local dealer the next day.
Now I want to place my order but the dealer tells me they have to be contacted by Ford before they can place the order.
Is this correct ?
I thought the purpose of reserving the truck would initiate the dealer being able to get the order in.
I really want to get into the que and start the process moving !

That's correct (the purpose of reserving a truck). If they don't want your essentially free sale, find another dealer. I ended up using the dealer 30 miles away (instead of the one 3 miles away) because of how they the 3 mile one made it difficult the first time I reserved.
No, they don't need to be contacted by Ford in order to place your order. If they're competent, they should be able to gather the information on the vehicle you want, and create the build and enter it for you. All the tools are available at their finger tips if they know how to use them; and perhaps they haven't a clue. My advice is to contact another dealer.
By the way I am in Rochester not sure where you are in NY but can you suggest a dealership

At least one other member here and myself ordered through Dave Smith Ford who are right off the Buffalo 90 toll exit. Or if you want to take a road trip down to Philadelphia, PA there's Chapman with the 4% off invoice pricing deal.

I don't know all the dealers in Rochester, but as Darnon suggested, two members here had been able to place their orders at Dave Smith in Williamsville, if you're willing to drive a bit.
Personally, if I haven't gone through the process myself, I'm not willing to throw you in someone's direction; even if I work at a dealership.
