Heavy rain planted ride

Well it was just a drive down veterans expressway here in FL yesterday. It was raining cats and dogs and you could barely see in front of you driving down the road with lots of strong wind. Though I have to say I felt really safe in the Maverick XLT , the wheels seem to grip well and the tail end didn't feel too lite driving down the road. Not much of a truck guy so don't know if the unibody helps in that department. Bed came in handy dopping off things to the dump prior that day. Plus it felt like just the right ride height for the small truck. Power seats would have been nice but I went the cheap route with a XLT.

Keep reading the eco boost is the engine to get, especially if awd is wanted and posted mpg are impressive. I never seem to get over 40mpg on my hybrid though that is with some highway driving mixed in a fair bit. Juat short of 1k miles on her so will wait and see if mpg numbers improve as engine breaks-in more. I am liking the hybrid though, I have to say, and for my needs is a good fit. Just feels nice getting a solid 40mpg in a truck. Ford has a winner with the truck for us non-truck guys lol. Ford uses cheap lordy cheaps plastic door panels ans such that won't wear well and paint is paper thin so hope the spend more on better materials in future model years...a Power sliding rear window option likewise would be nice for future xlt trims.

Good reason for me to focus on the 40mpg :)
The engine is not a pocket rocket though have to say, coming from a Prius IV back in the day, I am happy with the hybrid power thus far. Plus, I hear the ecvt rubber band effect less in the Mav then I did in the Prius
Rubber band effect?

I think that comes with CVT's not eCVT's

The Maverick and Prius both have eCVT planet gear transmissions.
Not CVT belt driven transmissions.

My lifetime average for my Hybrid, with about 50/50 town & highway miles is 42.5, but it seems to be climbing whilst it is breaking in at about 4K miles.
when mother nature strikes there's not much you can do, so i completely understand you

What I mean is, to me, all ecvt Prius (would figure Mav) exhibit a rubber band effect. Meaning the engine is always put/kept in the sweet rev range band to get most power from the engine. As that process occurs it can sound like the engine is going up in rpm range yet one is left feeling they are waiting for the engine to catch up the where the engine rev’d up to. Certain I am not explaining that well. The prior gens of the prius were a bit loud with that rubbber band effect ’sound’ though gen 5 2023 is somewhat better I have read.

I really don’t notice it much at all in the Mav. On a not related note, I just started to use Eco mode and it is sort of nice. Kicks in the regen more then when that setting is off once off throttle. Will see if mpg improve when doing in city driving. Dropped down to 39.7 during a 200 mile round trip today 60 to say maybe 75, am hoping to push over 40mpg will wait and see.
