I think we all can agree that Hyundai is trying too hard to promote the Santa Cruz.

Promote all they want. Without a hybrid model there’s no comparison.

I think when it comes down to actual truck uses, being able to add racks, etc and make the vehicle have more utility and capability the design of the Maverick leaves the Cruz in the dust. Only thing the Cruz really has going for it is styling; for marketing to young people that haven't thought through actually using the vehicle as a truck.

I like it how they picked blind spot view monitor like that's something every one needs or cares about. Also, the 5,000 lb tow rating is not a strong selling point when ford sells even more capable trucks (ranger or f150). I think the competition can be summed up like this. Do you want a luxurious feeling small truck that can do some basic trucking? Buy a SC. Do you want a practical, capable and economic little truck? Buy the Maverick!

Given that I had two options (tow pintel/CP360) and my Mav is limited to 2,000 pounds towing and quality is for sure well below the Cruz I can't argue with them at all on those points.

Ford told me if I want a Maverick, give up the CP360, which is a big blow to me buying it.

and by now if you think Ford put quality #1, or 2, or 3, you've not paid attention. First part of quality is getting you the car to begin with..which is why the June orders being put back of the bus was idiotic.

If I knew then what I know now I'd not have given Ford $1,000 down on a maverick. At this point a auto maker who values quality will soon follow with a hybrid AWD truck that has quality, and that will be Fords legacy.

I own 7 maverick hybrid for my business they all have around 8k on them not a single problem with them and average mpg at 42 I’m extremely pleased with my trucks ,and at 22500 out the door is by far one of the best business decisions I made, I used to run Ridgelines and replaced them all half the price and doble the mpg. I’m calling your arguments. Bs

You didn’t give Ford a $1000 deposit, they did not require one to order, you gave Blah Blah Blah dealership one and didn’t need to.

the argument you make helps the people who ordered in June how? Its NOT the dealer choosing which vehicles are built first, but Ford says "dealer allocations". If Ford refuses to cover warranty items (say hot cats from bad programing) or drags their feet they can say "dealer fault". If its YOUR car that burns/is broke does it matter?
I chose to see them as one cause they act as one to screw people over. Not sure how a moral person could see it different. I've come to believe some people on here probably work for Ford (dealers included!!!).
As far as the person who owns 8, well, I doubt the people you pay to drive will complain about the seats going bad quick. But they sure might want some compensation if they drive them home and it burns the house down, I hope your up for paying.

Price and brand alone will sell the Maverick. It's also proving to be popular with fleet customers.

For someone who wants the cheapest vehicle with an open bed or the cheapest vehicle sold by Ford that just happens to have an open bed, the Maverick wins. It fills a price point that was abandoned when Ford stopped selling the Focus and Fiesta here.

It's easy to draw a circle around the Maverick, Santa Cruz, and Ridgeline because they're all unibody vehicles with an open bed, but the Maverick really stands apart from the other two because of its fuel economy and price - two areas where the Santa Cruz and Ridgeline don't compete.

There's less difference and a lot more overlap between a Ranger, Frontier, Colorado, Tacoma, and Gladiator than there is between a Maverick, Santa Cruz, and Ridgeline.

If small, cheap, and efficient is the goal, there's the Maverick.

If you need most of the capability of mid-size truck, but with more comfort, performance, safety, features, and efficiency, there's the Ridgeline.

If you want the features of a Ridgeline, but with bolder styling and don't need as much cargo room, there's the Santa Cruz.

I saw a santa cruz the other day, I liked the looks of it. But when I was doing my research, it came down to a 25K ford vrs a 42K hyundai - no contest. I have no idea what the prices are now -

Personally, I prefer the more traditional look of the Maverick and Ridgeline - the Santa Cruz just looks too unconventional to me, but that's subjective.

The Santa Cruz starts at $26K. The Ridgeline used to start at about $30K for 2017, but hardly anyone bought the 2WD base model. Over time, Honda dropped the lower trims then made AWD standard so the entry price is now $39K. The most popular Ridgeline trim, by far, is the $45K RTL-E.
