I can finally afford a truck!

I moved from the country to the suburbs a couple years ago, I have a Jeep Wrangler as my daily driver and my wife has a Honda Pilot. I have 2 kids with their license but 2 more in middle school who I’m still driving around. I don’t NEED a truck here but I sure do miss having one sometimes. Whether it’s going to Lowe’s and getting mulch, moving my daughter out or needing to transport a lawn mower around it sure would be nice to have one. But an F150 would take up every inch of my garage and kill me on gas driving everyday. I kicked around the idea of a Honda Ridgeline but man they’re proud of those things 💰. And even if I bought a truck, the price range I would be able to afford would get me an older truck with 100k+ miles on it, and then you’re one breakdown away from being out tens of thousands of dollars. I had never dreamed about getting a new vehicle until I saw the Maverick rollout video. It has everything I need in a package that fits my garage AND 40mpg?! I said I didn’t want a car payment but having a truck that checks all my boxes brand new under warranty is too good to pass up. My order is placed and can’t wait til this fall!!

Sounds like Ford did their homework with this one. I personally have never wanted to own a truck, coming from the tuner-car side of things. However, an AWD micro-truck with the same optional power plant as a Focus ST, and suspension underpinnings from a Fiesta ST, for $26,000 spec’d how I want it?? Now that is speaking in my language…

Great color, maybe will see it in 2023. I would also like to see a blackened Burgundy .
The color pictured is Alto Blue, available at launch on all trims except XL. And I agree, a metallic wine-red paint job would look killer on one of these.

I originally ordered a Bronco. Back in July 2020. I still don't have it. I was is a base with sasquatch v-6 , light switch group and tow pk. 41,000 dollars. I have decided to not buy the Bronco. It's a little more than I wanted to spend. The economy has changed>>>>ALOT! My buddy passed away of 11 years suddenly, three weeks ago today< Darci my pup, So I placed my reservation for a Maverick yesterday, something smaller. I'm 64 so I really probably shouldn't be going and doing things I wanted to do with Darci. I did reserve the AWD FX4 thou. I hope it's as capable as the Bronco Sport. BYW>>>>>>Jeep prices are exploding. I have been keeping up with them, as a back up to the Bronco. I really think this Maverick is perfect for me, and it will fit in my GARAGE! I would like to add, I got an e-mail about 1 month ago from Ford explaining the delays on the Bronco, and they were going to honor the pricing on my Bronco, with no price increase for those who placed orders. Kudos to Ford.

WOW that looks sweet!! Making me second guess my XLT hybrid choice..... I wonder how the FX4 would handle around an autocross course?

the AWD trucks won't have the force vectoring suspension similar to the Fiesta ST

Oooh…that’s a game changer. Know what the setup will be instead?

That’s a relief. Probably based on the escape or Bronco Sport then. Should be easy to lower ;)

What is the warranty on the MAV? Is it 3/36 or 5/60? Hope its the latter.
Ford is usually 3/36 bumper to bumper, 5/60 powertrain, 8/100 hybrid.

Yes, that's exactly what the Maverick is. It's a decent warranty.

it you are correct, Ford offers a crappy warranty. only 3 years? and 5yrs on Powertrain? and not even 10 yrs on hybrid battery? 60k miles bumper to bumper and on power train?
They must not have any more faith in their reliability as I do!

The Ford warranty on the Maverick is exactly the same as on ANY of the Toyota hybrids.

So, therefore, up with the major hybrid maker.

Ford reliability is middle of pack, that's a standard tier 1 auto warranty. If you want more the only maker I know that has it included is Hyundai. At this point I've only had Toyotas so that's thier warranty. I do agree that everyone should warrant until 75 or 100k but that's what they offer unfortunately.

I feel the same way. I have been driving a 2000 Mazda B3000 for 15 years. The rear brake line had rusted through a year ago. I was on the road but going slow when it happened. I wanted a new truck that could aco

I have been driving a 2000 Mazda B3000 for 15 years. The rear brake line burst while I was driving it due to rust last year. Thankfully I was driving slowly when it happened. Since then I have wanted a new new truck around the same size as my Mazda. But I didn't want to pay $50,000 ballpark for two or three times the vehicle I needed. The Maverick seemed to me a perfect match for what I wanted.

That's pretty standard among car makers though (with a couple of exceptions).
Maybe you can afford a truck, maybe you can't. Ford accepted my order, and now I'm being told that they won't build it the way I ordered it. They want more money. Hopefully they build yours for the price you signed for.

Or, you can drop the 4k Tow package and downsize your towing ideas, which costs less anyway...

I'm disappointed by that warranty, honestly. The 3/36 ran out on my Focus in February but it still has 6 and a half years or 77k miles left on the powertrain warranty. No wonder Ford keeps trying to buy it back so badly.
