I am very curious as to what feature sold you on a first edition. I had been considering it but really did not want or need heated seats, did not want soft box cover, opted for rollup, and the orange pleather seats look like puke. And limited color choice was the final straw.
Really wanted upgraded radio Serious XM and the special limited edition graphics and heated wipers/mirrors. In my view, the painted roof and skullcaps are just fluff. Didnt see it as worth the extra cash even though my build comes in at just under 33k.
So what made you guys and gals part with your cash, was it purely bragging rights or do you see value that I am missing?

I wanted the First Edition but you could not get the FX4 package on a First Edition. The FX4 package was important, First Edition wasn't.

Is it worth it? That depends on what you want and what you're willing to spend to get it. My husband had been prepared to buy a Honda Ridgeline until he heard about the Maverick. In his case, the first edition was what he wanted so it's obviously worth it to him. It's a huge selling point that he's getting what he wants for less than what he was willing to pay, AND he's going to get great gas mileage.

It’s technically worth it if you want all of the things it comes with. Personally I ordered the Lariat Lux package and moonroof, because I don’t care for the graphics nor the black roof. I could take or leave the black wheels vs the standard Lariat ones, so for me it both “didn’t make financial sense” and I don’t like how it looks. Everyone will have different opinions of what they want…

I actually prefer the Lariat wheels - don't like glossy black ones, and I really would prefer the added head room vs the sunroof - even though I am only 5'11". Also, although I currently have a sunroof, I usually don't use it - only sometimes.

The decals are ok - the side mirror covers, I could do without. The rapid red looks like the best color - really, for me that is the only reason to go 1st edition.

I will be going with the 2.0 Lariat in area 51 with lux - still thinking whether I can justify the awd living in socal.

To answer the OP's question....no, the first edition is not worth the money. No practical utility is added considering the price one must pay and it will not help resale if you're into that kind of thing.

See "Ford Ranger Splash Edition" for more examples.
The Ranger Splash was not a one-year-only version, nor was it of limited production. As far as I recall, Ford built as many as they could with no restrictions, for multiple model years.

The First Edition is not produced in unlimited numbers, and I seriously doubt it would carry over to the next model year (what would be the point of that?). Will another special package replace it? Yeah, probably.
