When I was completing the process of taking delivery of my Maverick, I gave the dealership my Private Offer Certificate number and receipt from my deposit, expecting them to factor it into my final price. They did not. The excuse was that Ford would be sending me a check for the "rebate" and the check returning my deposit would follow. I called them on it, telling that's not how it works, but they did not relent. Because I had driven two hours after work to get there and had to return for work the next day, I took them on their word. I didn't trust them, but I believe I have recourse.

Today I followed up with Ford Marketing Relations. Surprise, surprise...Ford doesn't send out checks. The private offer was to be applied at the time of purchase. Big Ford can't intervene; this is something I'm supposed to resolve with the dealership. The dealership has no idea how much a pain in the ass this is going to be for them. I've got names, I've got details, and I'm pretty good with big words and legalese. And I know lots of media contacts, social and otherwise, that thrive on exposing cheats and business malfeasance.

I won't identify the dealership now, as I don't want to burn any bridges at the moment. But no matter how this is or isn't resolved, I'll name names at the end.

To be honest, I'm looking forward to this. I've been retired for a couple of years now from the comptroller department of a state agency. I'd like to see if "I still got it".

That's possible. Ford Customer Service isn't 100% reliable, either. But the one thing EVERYONE agrees on is that I have $2750 + deposit due back to me. How that's done and who does what are the pressing questions.

Man I was worried about that happening to ya. Fight the good fight, the dealership owes you that cash because Ford is sending the reimbursement straight to them. That's how the program works.

My story was somewhat different. My dealer sales manager got me an offer but it was for a Lease. In the end, when they emailed to say I could pick up the truck they did list the profit offer discount plus of course my $100 down payment, Course this was from time of our around Sept 2021 to time of pickup last month. Mind you, I was a pain in their behinds about getting it, plus the help of the mac forums on how process worked so I could hold then to telling me if my order was covp to begin with.

Call one of your local tv stations that do those citizen stories about being scewed over by a business. Normally a car dealer will bend over backwards to resolve issues once that occurs. Good luck

Thanks. It's definitely in my gradiated response plan. I will give them every opportunity to make it right, but should they decide to not cooperate, I will make the $2850 the most costly $2850 they ever screwed anyone out of.

Take a couple sets of ear plugs with you. Put yours in first. Tell the dealer he best put his in too as it is about to get very noisy, real soon. Reach inside your jacket with your hand and leave it there. Ask them again to honor the amount they owe you. Let us know how you make out.

What I was told by Ford Corporate when it looked like all hope was lost at getting mine, that the the "private offer" comes from a 3rd party, so it was out of their hands.

Interest rates sadly weren't locked for rollover orders. I looked into this pretty extensively because I wondered the same thing. Unfortunately we'll be at the mercy of the percentage rate gods.

UPDATE: I went to the dealership today and asked to talk to the finance manager. (I may have worn extra Army paraphernalia...shirt, hat, field briefcase with a bunch of unit patches stuck all over it, etc.)

I told him about how my Ford-verified private offer was not redeemed at the time of delivery and he seemed to be upset that this happened to me. But I have to note here that he also didn't seem surprised. In fact, he started to say "You're not the only one who...." before he caught himself. He got a contracts person who pulled my paperwork and verified my private offer. She redeemed it through Ford (I signed a form stating I wanted the check sent to my residence) and then she refunded my deposit back to my credit card. I should see a check for the $2750 within a week.

The whole process from entering the dealership to leaving was about 15 minutes. My guess is that this has happened a LOT and they had the resolution down pat. I won't call this resolved until I get that check. At that point, once we are closed out, I will name names. Here's hoping the check is in the mail!

This is good news!
I'm sure they aren't contacting anyone that was screwed over, hoping several won't notice. But, they probably have received calls from FMC because of customer complaints, so they are rectifying it with the people who call them out on it. Once you cash the check, you can not only name names but also let locals know they should check the details on their purchases from that dealer; they may have money coming.

I forgot about that! Hmmm.... I'm not gonna hold my breath on it, but for a possible couple hundred bucks, I wouldn't mind seeing them sweat over the potential headache being caused by their sales staff.

I once bought something somewhere where there was an "instant rebate at register", but they insisted I paid the sale tax BEFORE the rebate. I thought I should pay it AFTER the rebate. To this day I think I am correct, but could not convince them. It made no sense.
