I have a 2022 Ecoboost XLT. All was fine until last year when it went into deep sleep mode. I brought it to the dealer, where they replaced the battery with another one of the motorcraft ones.
Last week, I got into a minor fender bender (parking lot backing up) and had to take it to the shop to get fixed. While it was there, it started to send me warnings on my phone about it going into battery saver mode.
Long story short, i decided to buy a new non-motorcraft battery from OReilly's. The body shop was gracious enough to install it for me since it's been a pain for them to have to keep jumping just to move it around their shop. I brought the old one to OReilly's and the manager there was dumbfounded how a 13 month old gel battery could go bad. He even tried to recharge it on their charger, but the thing was bad.
I work from home so I don't drive a whole lot. When I do, it's usually only in a 5 to 10 mile radius.
This should be a good test to answer the "is it the battery or the software" question, since this is not one of the Ford Motorcraft batteries that seem to always be at the center of this.
I also have a good battery charger of my own. I will use it to periodically check on this new battery.
Anyone else with an Ecoboost running into this battery issue? Have you solved it? How?
