I'm looking at purchasing a Maverick to haul my 10 ft kayak but receiving conflicting information on whether this would work? I realize there may be some "hangover" but with the use of a red flag, thinking it may be ok. Does anyone have any experience with this?

The bed is 6’ long with the gate down. I don’t think 4’ of overhang is excessive and the tie-downs on the gate will help you secure it. I don’t see a problem. I’ll be hauling a 12’ kayak in mine.

I agree with what has been said so far. You are probably safe for a 10 foot kayak to drive with the tailgate down and some anchor points. I personally have a 10 foot and a 12 foot kayak and will be using the hitch mounted bed extention for sure. they are easy to take on and off in the short term. Long term i will evenually get the Bed racks and use my current kayak mounts when its available at my local outfitter.
