Leather interior not available with the hybrid engine in Canada

A huge disappointment here for me. I want the leather interior option ie. Lariat with the hybrid engine and it's not available optioned like this for the Canadian market but it is available in the USA. What's up with that Ford?? Ford wants to introduce a new model line up and encourage the market in to the hybrid experience but limit the availability for certain markets. Not happy.
I've questioned this at Ford Canada and all they can tell me is " Yright. It's not available the way you want it. Sorry."
If the 2.0 Ecoboost came with direct Injection + Port Injection, I would be a happy man. Past experience with direct injection only lead me to investigate the issues with direct injection including carbon buildup on intake valves. Adding port injection to direct injection solves this issue.
I hope Ford is listening here and offers up a solution to this issue. All they have to do is open up the option for the Canadian market. Please.

Not to be picky, but it is not leather. But why not available in Canada doesn't make sense.
This is no leather available on the Maverick anywhere.
The steering wheel on applicable packages is leather-wrapped.
Meaning leather interior. Lariat is vinyl "ActiveX"

But that's O.K. because it comes from the renewable, Helm portion of the Bos Taurus Dermis. This is naturally sustainable and is only used for steering wheel leather. No Ill effects on the animal if harvested correctly, much like trimming a hoof or horn.
Let's just start telling them that. I need my leather wrapped wheel! 🤪
playing with the Canadian configurator, looks like the Lariat isn't available in Hybrid up north
The activeX seating is only available on the Lariet model, same as in the U.S. But what’s not available in Canada is the hybrid powered Lariet. In Canada, the Lariet only comes as a 2.0 ecoboost, AWD version. I think this is what J is not satisfied with, a hybrid powered Lariet that includes as standard feature the activeX (faux leather) seating. And as in the U.S, activeX is n/a on the XL and XLTmodels, but the hybrid is.

Exactly. I'm just a regular guy who gets in to all kinds of things and I'm not always the cleanest when I need to get in to the truck. Cloth seats and me just don't work out. I need seat material that I can wipe down. I presently have an F250 King Ranch with real leather and also a Mercedes with faux leather. Either works fine. Real leather isn't as tough as the faux leather and real leather changes a lot with humidity. It will shrink and stretch looking great at times and wrinkled at other times.
Bottom line- I feel like we Canadians are back on the greased end of the stick again. Why do we have to keep getting the short end? What I'm really trying to do here is encourage more response and hope that Ford is monitoring this site and paying attention for once.
JE.
Yep, this is the only reason i haven't pulled the trigger on the maverick yet. Does anyone know if Ford will make the hybrid version available with faux leather seats any time soon? I'd rather not go with the hyundai equivalent, but not sure if I can wait another two years to replace my vehicle.

So, I had really wanted a hybrid with FAUX leather and I ended up ordering a XLT hybrid with the luxury package. The intent was to take the vehicle to Katzkin and get them to replace the seat covers with their product which is REAL leather. The cost to do this is about $1800.00 which is cheaper than the difference in price between the XLT and the Lariat. There are dealers in southern Ontario that offer this as an option and Katzkin is capitalizing on this. my neighbor had Katzkin do the interior of his 2018 F150 coyote and it's stunning and it's real leather like the King /Ranch leather. It's worth investigating. I've been in discussion with Katzkin about doing a truck for me and they have an option. I'm stuck in a situation where I need a truck before the snow flies and I may have to take a Lariat just because of availability.

I agree. I was shocked when I found out that they wouldn't be selling the hybrid Lariat edition here. Talk about a big ol' middle finger to Canadian consumers. If someone else was making and selling small hybrid trucks they'd be getting my business, not Ford, for that sort of insult alone. As it stands I need a small truck and I want a hybrid - already drive a Kia Niro hybrid and I'll never go back to straight gas - so it looks like the Maverick is my only option. The other two things I don't like about them is the back seats. I would much rather have extra bed space instead - like the old 2 seater Ford Rangers. And the intertior design, colors in particular. They're terrible. It's like whoever designed them has zero understanding of color theory and what complementary colors are. The bright orange plastic and the door arms are pretty fugly as well.

Thanks for that! When I first started looking at the Mavericks that was the first thing that popped into my head was taking a drive to the US or Mexico and getting the interior completely reupholstered. That's a fair price, and as you said cheaper than buying the Lariat edition anyway.
