I just saw this news about Ford bringing back the F-150 Lightning. Very cool.

It got me thinking though if there's a market for a high performance Maverick street truck. Remember the old Chevy ones. Or the GMC Cyclone?

I figure the turbo-4 is great for tuning.

If it's true that Ford is bringing the Ranger Raptor to the US then I think it's possible they could do the same treatment to the Maverick. As for a street truck, I think the only way it happens with the Maverick is if someone does it themselves.

I think it’s a great idea. If I get a Maverick I would like to have it set up like that sweet Colorado above. Well maybe not that low but a little lower than stock as mine would be a street truck and a light duty hauler. A tuned Ecoboost engine and AWD could make great street/sport truck.

There are already tunes for the 2.0L EcoBoost since it's in the Fusion as well so it is possible.

I don't know.

Part of me thinks the Raptor treatment won't work for a Maverick because of it's platform. Then again, the Bronco Sport has some OK off-road chops. I suspect if they did make an off-road Maverick, they won't use the Raptor name.

I'm curious to see if this new F-150 Lightning is more of a traditional truck or a street truck

from my understanding the Lightning is going to be for the all-electric F-150. So my guess is that it's going to be designed and marketed as a traditional truck (only electric). Though with EV power comes the potential for ridiculous performance too.

Made this render. “Ford Maverick ST”
2.3L Ecoboost. 300hp 330lbft 8speed auto with paddle shifters. Dual clutch AWD LSD system. Lowered. Sport struts. Big brakes. 19” sport wheels. Summer tires. Recaro Seats.
$40,000. It could happen!

No the fiesta st was a 1.5L 4 banger.
The Maverick, bronco sport and escape have a 1.5L 3 banger. Slightly different, but like all ecoboosts there is a decent amount of aftermarket and MUCH MORE coming soon.
I had to double check, that's right in the US they have the 4 cylinders but the Asian and European Fiesta ST's have the 3-cylinder engine. So maybe we can get some stuff from Europe for it.

Raptor or not, Ford needs to do something with the Ranger headlights ! They look totally retro, but not quite retro enough to be cool. Its like all the other Ford trucks evolved with those cool C shaped headlights, but the designer for the Rangers fell asleep.
