So, if you bought a Maverick, what options do you wish you had ordered?

Is the XLT worth it, or is it just cosmetic? I can't see much that would convince me to spend another $3000. Or am I missing something?

I'm considering buying a base model as a run-around vehicle that gets better MPG than my Transit250.
Looking through the "build" page at Ford, I'm not seeing much in the way of options that I'd want for the XL other than hitch receiver. Everything else seems like it can be purchased from a third party and added (and probably better/cheaper than the factory stuff). AWD is cool, but I'd rarely if ever "need" it, and I'd prefer the hybrid MPG over having AWD.

XLT eliminates the cheesy orange stuff.

We’re looking to eliminate both Tacoma and Mazda3; so, had to go Lariat to get 2 side heat and added lux package to get heated seats.

If we kept the 3, the XL would fit to be like the sparse Tacoma, but I’d look more into the non power mirrors on XL. Best thing on 2005 Tacoma over our 1996 was its mirrors fully adjustable from driver’s seat.

None of the trims nor lux packages offer Homelink like we have on the 2 Mazdas.

Luckily I don't live anywhere that heated seats would be used, so no need to go XLT to unlock that option.

What's the "orange stuff"? decorations?

XL has the black trim (no orange anywhere). XLT and Lariat have the orange trim on the air vents, door and a couple of the console trays. There is also orange stitching on the denim looking seats. There may be more.

XL Maverick Hybrid with Co-pilot 360 is fine for a small truck at a good price. CP360 for XL includes blind side monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. To me CP360 is a must have, especially for older drivers, but for younger ones too.

The 2023 model year includes cruise control at no additional cost. Cruise is a must have if you are doing any traveling.

Disclosure: I bought an XLT hybrid from a dealer when a lady who ordered it did not take it. I decided not to wait for 8-12 months for my order. Great vehicle. Have driven 900 miles at 41.4 mpg’s.

Unfortunately, 2023 base XL hybrids with CP360 are hard to find without paying a big dealer markup.

Hum...can you get the rear sliding window on the XL? Guessing so, maybe it was the sunroof you could not get now on a 2023 XL?
I think you have to get XLT/Lariat to unlock the moonroof option and sliding rear window, all 6x6" of it.

Thanks for the info. I poked around, and nationwide, dealers are still adding an additional $5-10k to MSRP. I'll just wait a while until it gets back to normal before buying a new one. Heck even the 25k mile used ones are $10k more than MSRP new

It's too bad we aren't allowed to buy direct from mfg and pick up at the factory.

Note: a lot of people don't know that dealerships are NOT owned and operated by the manufacturer, just like Doritos doesn't own and operate 7/11. Dealerships are just a middleman, which is becoming apparent aren't wanted or even needed.

So far, already ordered the drop-in liner plus charge for install, my ‘to order’ list for tomorrow at 18% off consist of:
Hood deflector and tail gate shock, also ford maverick window shade.
Under consideration to order would be -
Ford mud flaps

Now if Ford sold some sort of rear sliding window top cover to keep out rain like they do for side windows that would be sweet :)
