Let's see what most of us think about the Ford Maverick pickup. Rate it here from 1-10 and share your thoughts below.

To start, I'm giving it an 8/10 for reasons similar to these that I found:

Pros
  • Low starting price on base versions
  • Loads of available equipment to enhance towing, off-roading and safety
  • Standard hybrid powertrain returns excellent fuel economy
  • Quick acceleration from optional turbocharged engine
Cons
  • Bumpy ride quality
  • Some features hidden in costly optional packages
  • Interior has a low-buck feel to it
  • Limited range of adjustment for the driver's seat and steering wheel

8/10

Pros:
  • Hybrid MPG's Last 2 fill ups: 606 and 620 per tank
  • Price
  • Styling, especially Exterior.
  • Interior Size and Width feels bigger than it is
  • Smooth ride vs my previous Vehicle
  • Decent Stereo (I might be the only one that thinks this...)
  • Apple Car play is fantastic
  • Bed options and accesories

Cons:

  • Interior Plastic will scratch if you breathe on it
  • Seat material stretching out leaving wrinkles
  • Back seat not as roomy as I thought it would be
  • No Push Start on low and mid levels without upgrades
  • A couple of engine demons that need to be checked out
  • Would prefer XL interior vs XLT, but I like the orange.

PROS SO FAR:
1. MPGs (my gas gauge is moving slowwwww love that!)

2. Capable (take it to Lowes, get some wood, bags of mulch, a new toilet, You are good to go)

3. Sexy Beast Factor (people turn and say oooooh! What is that? It's the new Mav, sir)

Cons: could use more drivers side headroom
No major complaints!

Love everything with only a few gripes that weren't paramount to me buying the vehicle:
  • Rear split seats would be nice
  • I wish it had a front parking camera
  • I wish it had automatic windshield wiper function
  • I'd like an auto dim rear view mirror with home link
  • For the hybrid, It would be nice if you could select 'Use electric only' under a certain speed (i.e. 15 mpg).
  • It would also be nice to have rear seat vents.
  • I wish the dashboard materials was more scratch resistant.

It rides better than a bronco sport (which my wife has) or escape...but I guess it depends what you compare to it...it is no where close to the comfort of my 2008 F150.... or price
That's a fair comparison if you ask me since they ride on the same platform.

Has anyone tried out a Santa Cruz? I have to think it rides smoother knowing what it's meant for, but who knows.

Gave my Maverick an “8”. My biggest gripe with my FX4 is the lack of control over the transmission. I drive in the mountains a lot and wish there was a better way to downshift other than using “L” or tow/haul mode, Paddle shifters would be great! Other than that, absolutely love the truck. I’ve towed about 3k pounds (I have the tow package), and other than lower mpg’s, it handles the load very well using tow/haul mode.

My last 2 cars had low profiles tires so my Maverick rides like a Caddy compared to those 2. I have back issue too. The longest trip I've taken was 4 hours round trip on an old country highway full cracks and ridges and "repairs". No problem. It's not a Caddy. It may ride a little firm but comfortable IMHO. If you got the lumbar support you're going to like that too.

gas mileage has been great. I am not in any hurry, and stay 3 mph below the speed limit. Over 30 mpg in a pickup truck? Unheard of!

XLT FX4 EcoBoost
9 out of 10
PROS:
Fuel economy - 225 mi of highway driving at 73 mph and averaged over 34 mpg. Combined hwy/city still doing 27
Love features of Luxury Package, especially heated seats and wheel, along with auto hold feature at stops
Get tons of compliments on my black FX4 with hard roll-up tonneau cover
I have had 2 lower back surgeries, yet find the seats very comfortable

CONS:
My only complaint is that I wish the center display was a bit brighter, and there is no way to adjust it that I have found
