I ordered my Maverick July 18th and sold my 2015 tundra July 30th, to a Toyota dealer for $3505 more than I paid for it 2 years ago. I was going to wait to sell the Tundra but dealers are paying for good used vehicles to fill their lots as they are short on new vehicles due to the chip shortage. The Ford dealer where I ordered my Maverick said he usually has 360 new fords on hand, but now only has 60. I think in 4 or 5 months the price I could get for the Tundra would be a lot less If dealers supply returns by then. Some of my thoughts on Maverick fuel economy, I am in California where gas is $4.40 a gallon now.
Fuel cost of the 2015 Toyota Tundra I just sold VS. The 2022 Ford Maverick I have ordered.
In 24 months driving the Tundra I have driven 16,302 miles and used 1,109 gallons of gas.
16,302 miles using 1,109 gallons of gas = 14.7 MPG.
My total fuel cost was $3648 divided by 1109 gallons = $3.29 per gallon average during past 2 years.
Wheel Tire Plant Car Vehicle

@ 14.7 mpg Tundra driven 16302 miles in 24 months used 1109 gallons = 14.7 mpg @ $3648.00
@ 40 mpg if Maverick driven 16302 miles in 24 months would use 407 gallons = 40 mpg @ $1339.00 $2309 less than Tundra
@ 34 mpg if Maverick driven 16302 miles in 24 months would use 479 gallons = 34 mpg @ $ 1577.00 $2071 less than Tundra
@ 30 mpg if Maverick driven 16302 miles in 24 months would use 543 gallons = 30 mpg @ $ 1786.00
$1862 less than Tundra
This is based on $3.29 per gallon because 2 years ago gas was under $3 per gallon.
If gas prices remain high or drop back to $4.10 per gallon, comparing the same mileage would show:
Tundra at 14.7 mpg vs. Maverick at 40 mpg would cost:
Tundra $3,976 vs Maverick $1,670. Or $2,297 less to drive Maverick over 24 months or $1148 per year.
If I keep it 20 years it is free.

I ordered my Maverick on July 8, and sold my 2013 F150 a few days later. I am riding my motorcycle full time until the Maverick comes in! So far, its been a lot of fun.

Ditto on selling previous vehicle. Sold my Caddie SRX on July 2nd for $2k more than KBB value. I have my wife's car available which luckily is working from home now plus my motorcycle. I hope to get the truck delivered by Nov at the latest. (side note: I just checked KBB today and the price has dropped over $1k, looks like I sold at peak of used values to put down cash payment on Mav)

Yep. Sold my car just over a month ago. And now it's on the dealer lot for almost the same as they paid me for it. I had thought about selling it 6 months ago and when I saw the value went up over 3k I figured no better time than now. The used car bubble has burst and prices are coming back to reality. Been enjoying the bikes on days its not raining (plenty of cargo room in the sidecar if needed) and taking the gas-guzzling 3/4 ton truck on wet days.

Yes debased on what I saw on their lot and other lots, I thought they would list my truck for 9 or 10K more but listed for 4K over what they gave me. That is still crazy high compared to what the truck sold for 2 years ago. They also often make a lot on financing and extended warranties etc. and they need to have nice vehicles on their lots during the shortage from the manufactures.
