Test Drives - When can we expect them?

Does anyone know when Ford will be making Mavs available for online reviewers to drive/test?

I'm keen on finding out the handling differences between FWD and AWD vehicles mostly.

I don't have any special insight, but here's my understanding so far:

The models we've seen so far are all pre-production and not even from the same Mexico factory where the ones for sale will be produced. They won't allow drive tests until the full production version is available--basically some of the first ones that come off the line will be press vehicles. Since the production line is supposed to start up in August, I'd expect drive tests in last August or early September.

Anyone who knows more about how the system works want to chime in with better information? I'm mostly just guessing.

We won't see a wide selection of test drives until after production starts and the official media launch occurs where the media is invited to come and drive them. If I had to guess, mid-late September. TAWA Texas Truck Rodeo is first weekend in October and press will likely have access to them at that event. Ford will want to have it as a contender for Truck of Texas 2021. Press cars sent out to fleets nationwide should start at conclusion of press launch. My local fleet manager in Phoenix told me if one arrives in our fleet before I get my own Maverick, they would get me into it first. So....."fall".

Well special orders have outpaced Fords production ability due to the chip shortage. I would say that customer orders are going to be filled first before they get to regular stocking orders which would be the unspoken for one that you would be able to test drive on the lot. I would estimate that you'll be test-driving one in March or April of next year. Think I'm wrong? Go down to your local dealership and try and test drive a big Bronco.

Surprisingly, a Stock order for a Maverick appeared in my ordering system last night. Shocked me and my GM. I'll anxiously track and see if it gets scheduled for production.

when you receive your reservation , be certain it says “retail” and NOT stock in the box on top of reservation page sent to you in email.

When did you put your order in? I put mine in on the 17th and got nothing yet on Ford's web site

It could be! Cyber Orange XLT. I’ll let ya know when it gets a build date. 😉

I don't believe you will see anything on ford's website. You should receive an email confirmation from ford stating your truck has been ordered and give you a brief statement about the build process. I got my email within minutes of the dealer placing the order.
Don't forget to check your junk folder!
