Didn't, but I wonder why you say that. Please elaborate. Thanks.
Seems pretty obvious to me, why pay more when you don't have to. Dealers that are clueless with the process and orders aren't actually being submitted as indicated by the lack of confirmation emails. It's best to go to a dealer that actually knows what they are doing, not charging a deposit or adding charges on top the MSRP.
Honestly, I'm wondering why more dealers wouldn't require deposits. When I drive past these dealer lots they are empty. Having a bunch of flakes not buy their ordered trucks sounds like a good way to build up inventory on the lots. I feel kinda icky about dealers charging above MSRP for just doing data entry on customers who then have to wait on the truck for months. It's easier to understand marking up trucks that are sitting there in mostly empty lots. Demand for new vehicles is high right now, and will be for a year. Mark it up and see if you can find the customer who will buy it for $5k over sticker. That seems like it would take some sales labor, but also putting a premium on getting a new vehicle "right now" instead of in 3-4 months sounds fine to me as well.
We would have happily paid a deposit in order to secure our Maverick. The general manager refused to take it. That's making me a bit tense after reading the various comments here.
Anyone that decides not to buy their Maverick they can sell. They aren’t worried about the deposit and neither should you.

In the video Tim states that you have to reserve on line first then order with dealer. I by passed the on line reservation and went directly to the dealer to order. Shortly after ordering with the dealer I received my confirmation from Ford.

They probably did it for you, you are required to put a reservation number to start an order.

They did not mention it. That is what they did.

Half of my orders were walk-ins... no reservations. I was able to put them in no problem. However, Ford would prefer you start with an on-line reservation.

Reserved mine. Ordered through the better of the 2 local Ford dealer (based on consensus of folks I talked to who had dealt with both). They placed the order for Msrp (plus tax, destination, and doc fee) and took a $250 refundable deposit.

Seemed perfectly okay with me. Day later I got the confirmation email from Ford.

Our Area Rep said they won't get build without a lead/reservation number. Going through the Maverick Lead ordering system.

Some of our leads didn't transfer to the MLO. Per the MLO support, I entered them manually until they get it corrected.

"Hello,

Per feedback from our support staff, this is a known issue, should hopefully be resolved over the next few days.

Thank you,

Greg @ Ford Retail Orders Program Headquarters"

I just got off the phone with the MLO personnel. They looked at my orders, then pointed me to the Job Aid, "The Order bank opens on June 8th, so dealers can enter a direct order on the website without being a Reservation Lead in order to secure scheduling above allocation for the Maverick." They confirmed my orders are legit.

If you want a great deal call ED over at Chapman in Philly. He has been helping people all over the country. You can now get 4 PERCENT under invoice. Beats paying any MSRP markup or even MSRP at that matter

He got me a great deal and I'm out of state too.

Here is his info! He's very responsive, Id recommend you call or text him

Thanks for this. I've been wondering about this because my dealer said they never got either of my two online reservations which I made on June 9th and tried again on the 11th. On June 14th they finally said they were able to place an order and I went in and completed the order and got confirmation email from Ford. So I'm good to go (I hope).
