How many maverick units sold do you think is success for Ford? At intro? First year numbers?

Some data points (US data):
Ford ranger sales 2020: 101k
F-150 2020: 787k
Escape 2020: 178k
Bronco Sport: 60k (2021 ytd)

~150k to succeed, but the market will definitely want more...~250k annually given the price point.

We've needed an inexpensive truck for a long time...Ford Maverick will hit at the perfect time.

I was on my phone and not sure what I did wrong but it posted twice abd I couldn't figure out how to delete it. I reported the duplicate but I guess admins have not go around to deleting it.

My apologies to the forum for this. If you know how to delete a post please let know. I did not see a way to do that

No worries. The moderators can combine 2 threads.
My thought is if the first generation runs for three to four years and they have steady sales above, say 75-80k, it's paid for itself and its development. Modifying the platform for another generation should hopefully be assured. Perhaps then we'll see an option to the cab layout/bed length. I'm sure there's plenty of fleet buyers who would take a regular cab option and don't necessarily need even a longer bed -- a good example being auto parts chains and other businesses who don't require a lot of equipment to do their daily business.
Good question. I think only Ford knows the number of units it needs to sell for a particular model to meet profit goals. That being said, it is interesting to compare the Bronco Sport to the Maverick since they are both built in Mexico and are basically the same vehicle architecture. My thought is that the Maverick initially is not going to sell as many units as the Bronco Sport out of the gate, but I think it will far outpace it over the long haul. The Bronco Sport is currently benefitting from the "Big Bronco" marketing and hype, but the Maverick has its own market area that I feel it will dominate for quite some time. It has no real competition at its price point and fuel efficiency levels and it is so cheap that it will steal sales from normal economy cars like the Civic, Corolla, Elantra, etc. in addition to revitalizing the small pickup market that really was abandoned.

What's funny is that I was talking w/a neighbor, who is an 80 y/o woman; and the Maverick actually sounds interesting to her. She asked; "What do you think I can get for my car on trade?" And; "I've wanted something like a little truck."
The Maverick just might have more appeal than we realize, but it may just take people actually seeing one to build that interest, as I'm sure, like her, many people have no idea the Maverick is coming.

It's the same way with everyone I tell about it. They've never heard of it and are like "What's a maverick?" and then are inquisitive and skeptical to hear about a new smaller truck with a hybrid setup.
