I don't see any towing in my Maverick future but the hitch will be frequently used for this:

Motorcycles. I think the two longest machines in my collection should fit in the bed with the tailgate down. And if not, 2,000 lbs towing is plenty for a 600 lb (max) bike and 350 lb trailer.

I like the utility the hitch offers for bike or other accessory racks. It also allows for light duty towing which is always a possibility like for riding lawn mower purchased last year. $30 for a U Haul rental and you can do plenty. I got hitch with Luxury pkg but I would have opted for it anyhow. For the $100 price tag, it gives great utility AND gives it more of the real truck look.

Pop up camper. It only weighs 1500# so the hybrid will be fine.

With the Maverick's 2,000 pounds of towing for the FWD hybrid and 4,000 pounds for the EcoBoost there's quite a few things the Maverick can handle.

I hardly ever tow now, which is part of the reason I'm looking at replacing a Ram 1500 5.7 that averages 16mpg with a hybrid Maverick. I use the bed all the time though, basically anytime I would prefer it back there than scratching up the interior in the back of the crossover or that's dirty/smelly/oily/wet.

That's a good point, with appropriate gearing it could be just as quick as a Santa Cruz 2.5T.

An issue I see is that its such a huge fuel economy drop, as its likely to get worse fuel economy than the Bronco Sport, and I'm also concerned that its a direct injection only engine whereas the Hyundai is port and direct injection depending on load, so most of the time the ports are getting a nice fuel washing and won't foul up and need to be walnut blasted down the road. And while the EPA says it takes regular fuel, that's not really true as Ford says 91 octane recommended to get full power, which they don't say for the hybrid.

Yeah the reason Ford recommends 91/93 for full power output is because the PCM will retard timing when it detects spark knock. Under compression (boost in this case), regular 87 gas will not behave as stably as 93 will, so the computer has to pull timing for it to run right, killing power. Premium gas allows it to hit its full potential.

Personally, fuel economy is a lower priority. I’m more excited about tuning and modifying it into a sleeper mini-truck. If I can keep it in the 20’s of MPG that’s just gravy on top. And after what I plan to do to mine, it’ll dust any Hyundai truck

a Utility trailer that I haul my firewood home in, one of my two foam teardrop campers, or my boat rack trailer with a load of foam kayaks on it.
I really want the hybrid battery powerbank option like the F150 hybrid has just for camping at state parks with no power. I hope Ford offers it as an aftermarket option on all hybrid models.

Aside from utility trailer for something like a lawnmower, the Maverick may tow a small car or camper. I'm a car nut, and if on a trip out west, I find a mint condition 1985 Tempo or 1979 Accord, I'd love to be able to throw it on a dolly and bring it home. Did I mention my tastes run quite eclectic? Haha

My 1995 Taurus sedan weighs around 3200 lbs, so I figure that something like it would be the heaviest car I'd attempt to tow with my EcoBoost+4k tow Maverick.

My boyfriend's 2011 Accord? No way. Well, I guess in an emergency and for a short distance, but I'd definitely use a larger vehicle for towing anything heavier than my beloved 90s-and-older Tauruses and Accords and such as them. I'd be using a dolly to save weight, more than likely.

We've talked about getting a small camper trailer, but we are likely to have a Bronco (2D/7MT) eventually, so I'm thinking it may be the one tasked with that job. Would be nice to have the Maverick be able to tow it as well, for when we decide that having 4 doors and an automatic transmission is preferable to going off-road. So, the nature of the trip would dictate the vehicle used, I suppose.

I don't own anything to tow right now, but that's likely because it's been a few years since I had something capable of towing anything. I have my eyes on a camper capable of handling my family, possibly a teardrop or maybe something a bit bigger and offroad capable. I went for the tow package because I want options in the future, this will be my family's main car for a significant number of years.

Looks like I’ll be towing a Kayak trailer. I don’t think my 16’ touring boat is going to fit the 4.5’ bed, even with a hitch load extender. 🤣😂
