I wanna change my answer to 'That stupid warning sticker in the bed'. It's a 3"x12" warning sticker on the right side of the bed (Do only the drop in liners have em?). Was easy to peel off but based on how sticky the glue was, Ford planned it to be there forever. The next day every bit of dirt & leaves stuck to it, looked like someone gave Bigfoot a brazilian.
Came clean with some GoofOff but just seemed pointless.
Of course, 40 years from now when fully restored Mavericks are rolling across the Mecum auction floor someone will get top dollar cause they still have that stupid sticker.

 

The crap Continental tires that came stock. Bought my '22 used about 6 months ago, I'm at 24,500 miles and already had to replace them. I've got about 28 miles on Michelin Cross Climate 2's.

 

I wonder if the PO ran them underinflated.

 

I just purchased the 2024 XL all wheel drive twin turbo Maverick and the tire noise is terrible. I realize it's a cheap price at today's standard but you can hear it at every road surface change. I do like my little Maverick but this is definitely annoying.

Over engineered and defective climate control system.

 

 

Meeting with the Regional Rep was informative. He addressed all of the above and several other gripes which turned out to be user issues (for the most part).
One that is not a user information problem is "Rattles in the dash" (fixed for 2024 built after Jan 30). It is sourced to the tweeter grills. Easy user fix, two options. 1. Pop off the grill apply foam tape or a couple of small dabs of silicone rubber to the dash side . 2. Using a credit card or similar plastic tool, press a couple of small pieces of foam rubber into the gap between cover and the dash. May need to experiment with placement a few times but it works. No more rattles.

For Aufgeblassen, drop your left hand onto the plastic cover (shelf) attached to the left side of your seat. As you exit, put your weight onto your left hand, lift your derriere, and pivot out of the vehicle. It actually works better, and is easier, than doing a one-handed pull up, to pull your arse off the seat. Try it.

He acknowledged the universal Eco-mode complaint and said he believes they may be an update coming for that. I'll believe it when I see it.

Tailgates are not (car-wash) waterproof. This is not just a Maverick problem. All pickups/all brands have tailgate leaks regardless of factory or aftermarket covers, hard or soft. If its a deal breaker for you buy a van.. problem solved.

Brake Grab? This was chiefly a '22 problem. We have several 23's and 24's in our fleet. None have ever exhibited this issue. Stop griping and get the update. Easy fix.

 

What is update for brake grab?

 

2023 XLT here. Hard to pick out just one so these are third fir first. No Homelink system, no rear parking sensors, and the climate control system needs to be improved.

 

Hey Jack, can you explain a bit more detail regarding your climate control problem? We have a few 23's but I'm not aware of any problems. In cold weather, the IC engine has to run enough to warm up the coolant or there can be no heat. That isn't just a Maverick issue, all hybrids have the same challenge. There are some plug ins which use an electric coil to provide heat when the coolant is not warm enough. But they are few, and it depletes the pac quickly when the weather drops into the 30's and below.

 

My complaint with the Climate Control is when you have the AC in auto and set the cabin temp to 70 degs, the air temperature from the vents very depending on outside temperature. This happens even when the engine is up at temperature.

 

That sounds like major oversight. I'm a total neophyte in this area. I always just set mine to low-recirc, and then control the fan speed on the steering wheel to stay comfortable.

could be the garbage continental tires. replaced mine with michelin cross climate 2 tires, much less road noise.

 

Sometimes when I shut off and exit my Hybrid XL, the horn beeps twice. Why does it do that? I have the key in my hand when this happens. It really makes other people jump back!

 

Because the truck thinks your ignition system is still on.

 

I guess that means my Mav is kinda stupid, since the truck is off and the key is in my hand....

 

Your Maverick is fine, the software is confused. Mavericks with keyless ignition will honk twice if you shut the door and forgot to push the start/stop button. Or if you leave the fob in the car and shut the door. It's just a reminder, and yes, we all hate it, its startling when it happens. I would call your local Ford service guys and see if they know of it.

 

Avnet, I appreciate that you want to explain away my issue, but your reasons do not apply to an XL with the mechanical ignition lock. There is clearly something wrong with my truck. Are you a Ford salesperson? That might explain your statements.

Not a salesperson Steve, and not trying to explain away your issue. I know exactly what you are talking about. We currently own six hybrids, two are XL's. I apologize that I didn't explain better the difference between keyed and keyless ignition. You didn't mention the year of your XL, or if you did I couldn't find it. This is a known software issue with some releases in both XL & XLT keyed ignition models. For now, just call your dealer.

 

The backup camera is not clear and is dark, not good.

 

No built-in garage door opener, heated steering wheel reduces by half after a couple of miles, the known battery sleep mode problem, all minor problems on a great little truck!

 

Dash rattle, Lariat not having auto dimming mirror, no power passenger seat, and poor design of door side pockets.

 

Now I have just had mine a week now 10 days I guess .. but tis a bit buzzy and rattly not a lot of sound deadening.. that said it was back when they came out(and are creeping out of this currently) a GREAT BARGAIN...My USB(big rectangle one) port is broken(the big one the USBc(small) works fine but it was broke when I got it.. need to get them to look at it next oil change. But so far not a lot... seats could use a bit more padding.

 

For a hybrid and being a truck, you can’t beat the price. It is not a luxury car, just a basic truck with good gas mileage

 

I bought a '22 eco, one of the earlier ones. No complaints, zero.

 

I love my truck but things it’s lacking, Driver head room and a bit more back seat leg room. Other then that they built the perfect Hybrid Truck!

 

Brake creep groan. Hot, cold, whenever.

 

No complaints now that I disabled the dbl honk when you get out with the fob in your pocket, and turned off the seat belt menu (that would never go away) and of course disabled the auto engine stop!

I don't have a Hybrid, I have the ecoboost. For me the saving just doesn't out way the wear and tear on the starter and the fact that every time the engine dies I get have to look down to see whats going on. I'm old and have been a gear head all my life with 2 and 4 wheels and I just don't like it.

 

Ah, was wondering why some don’t use it. I found a good YouTube on it that explains the tech behind it. According to it, the Hybrids don’t use a separate starter motor but use the electric hybrid motor since it’s all integrated together. Eliminates the starter motor wear issue as well as battery drain. Nonetheless, I expect the components are designed to function for the life of the car. The starter tech is not the same as was in your 1968 Mustang. 😂

 

While I love my Mav, I'm now on the third 12V battery within the 3/36 warranty period.
