XL vs XLT

26755 Views 43 Replies 23 Participants Last post by  Aufgeblassen
so my current dilemma is I'm strongly considering going and trying to order a maverick this week. im torn between the XL and XLT. XL because of the pricing, XLT because it has a tad more creature comforts.

besides power side mirrors, two tone interior with orange highlights, and alloy wheels. is there anything else worthwhile that would make the XLT a better pick then the XL model ? either model i pick, im still going to add the 4k tow package.

Keep in mind this will be a daily driver type vehicle and mostly see just streets and highway use.

Cruise control, the only reason I'd consider the XLT.

Cruise control was the only reason I got the XLT. Everything else that was a hard requirement from me was available on the XL.

Now how about if you put the copilot 360 in the xl since it has software that requires cruise control???
I kind of wondered about that though the XL still would not give you ‘cruise control’ or following distance ACC nor slow to a Stop and move forward again (a feature offered I believe in a different upper trim package. Nor do you get the back seat following center arm rest/cup holders. 360 will just prevent the truck from driving into the back of the car in front of you…plus a few other features.
Not sure if the xl has climate control but the xlt pics showed it. i have been missing climate control since my avalanche. Cruise control is a must, I wont even buy a motorcycle without it. lol
Lol cruise control on a motorcycle, next you will want ACC like the new bmw bikes are starting to have :)
The XT so far as I know does not offer climate control. It seems like a small truck so don’t know it is really needed plus there are not back seat a/c vents even.

At the price point of the XL, cruise is a luxury, not a need for me. Had a 2008 ranger xl that of all things had cruise control and roll down windows and never used the cruise. The XL will get me where I need to go.

XL and XLT have the same single zone system. Lariet has dual zone

I'm pretty sure XL gets the old one knob to pick the air temp and one to pick the blower speed, XLT gets single zone climate control and Lariat gets dual zones

I am wrong. Same single zone in both xl and xlt

There's at least one "what does an xl get you" video on youtube that has bad info in it 😅

I read the spec sheet post on the forum after I posted that, you are right.:cry:. Worth it to get the luxury package?

XLT luxury is only single zone manual.

Cruise control and dual climate control isn’t a must for me. I have cruise on my 14 wrangler and don’t believe I ever used it once.

You stated this is a daily ,right? I for one am sick of GREY, or BASIC BLACK interiors. To me the XLT is a breath of fresh air that will never get old. It' looks bright and cheery. If i can say that about a vehicle interior. My Challenger is all Black with Black chrome trim and grey and black hounds tooth cloth seats. It's the only thing I really dislike about it. But to each his own. i'm just old, and remember the beautiful interiors AMERICAN car used to have, before the imports ruined it. But again that is me. So if you can live with drab for eight years, or so, be a penny pincher. To me its a no brainer to just pay the extra for a better interior.

Is there really no back seat ac vents? Is this true on all of the trims? This could e a showstopper for me as there is a 10 yo in the back

My wrangler is black cloth with black dash I honestly prefer it to grey interior. I also have a 2012 Yaris with grey and black seats as well grey and black dash and interior. You see EVERY stain on the grey portions of the seats and grey plastics show a lot of dust and dirt. As you said to each is own. I however 100% agree the all grey interior is blah

The power lock tailgate is the other main option that I might miss, but is no where near the $2300 trim premium. Power side mirrors is nice if there will be more than one person driving, but for one person adjusting them once manually isn't that big of a deal.

You must go to the Lariat to get climate control....
