XLT luxury package vs. Lariat w/ no Lariat luxury package

I’ve specked out 2 that I can’t make up my mind between.
I like the Area 51 paint, 2.5 hybrid engine, splash guards, sliding rear window and moonroof. What I’m torn between is do I get an XLT with the luxury package or a Lariat without the luxury package? It’s about $1500 more for the Lariat, and it will get me leather but am I better off with the XLT luxury or Lariat basic?

I went XLT w/ the luxury package; main reason, which may seem silly, living in the New York metropolitan area, land of potholes, the lower profile tire on the Lariat is not a good match. Low profile=flats and bent rims. My trusty 2010 Ranger I've had since new has never let me down in my daily commute and just bounces over the holes. Also preserves my other cars from destruction. I love the Ranger but time for an upgrade, I've heard this rumor about cars having power windows......my Ranger doesn't. I'll mostly miss the manual shift.

So the Lariat has 18” tires compared to 17” for the XLT but they’re lower profile? I didn’t catch that. I like the kind of beefier look, I’d like to make the truck look as less wimpy as possible lol.
Yes, 60's for the Lariat; 65's XLT. Though there appears to be a 65 all-terrain upgrade available for the Lariat, would probably require a package upgrade as well. Disappointed in no paddle shifters. Still on the fence between this and the Santa Cruz, pros and cons with both.

Welcome to the forum @WestsideFireman. Here's the tire specs on the Maverick to give you an idea on the difference.
  • 225/65R17 A/S (Standard)
  • 225/65R17 A/T (Optional)
  • 235/65R17 A/T (Optional)
  • 225/60R18 A/S (Optional 4K Tow Package)

Welcome to the forum @Rxturbo7man! What stands out to you about the Santa Cruz vs the Maverick?

Just so you know - the so called leather is not really leather - simulated leather

How do you know it’s “good stuff “? What is so good about it?

Others are right, it's not a genuine leather. I haven't seen the Active X material but Ford says it is a Synthetic Leather and is more durable. Most likely those driving Mavericks will probably wear jeans and in reality jeans are not good for leather over time. My guess active x is like a premium material that is used in a Luxury boat.

Don’t get the splash guards now. They have late availability and will delay the Maverick being ordered.

I seen the active x seating today in a truck at the Ford Dealership. It looks like leather, but feels a bit different and I can see how it will wear much better over time. My leather seats in my car are still looking good, but I treat the leather each time I clean the car. But it does have creases in some areas and the active x doesn't seem to have that issue.
So the model you saw at the dealership was new - we won’t know how well or not we’ll the ActiveX holds up to creasing until a few years out.

still, good to know that the new ones look good.

I listened to YT video from Tim Bartz @ LongArthur Ford in Salina KS and he explains just what ActiveX material is and how it actually wears better/longer then real leather. Ck out his YT vids….all good info re: Maverick
ActiveX seating materials have been in production for a few years now in Ford vehicles. It’s not new on the Maverick.
