Filter Update.
Continued my search. Think I found something better than the Wix. Take a look at the Purolator Boss:

Amazon.com

Bypass 12-15psi
Coil spring bypass valve, like the Wix
Filtration efficiency is listed as 99% efficient at 25 micron

take a look at this youtube.

particle analysis showed it performed the best for filtering.
If you're wanting to use a Ford-branded filter, the FL-400 S filter is the same size as the Purolator PBL20195 or WIX 51516XP or Mobil1 M1-209A.
Any of those will about double the amount of filter medium and give a bit more oil capacity.

I've been using FL-400S since first oil change. For awhile it was in the $6 range on Amazon but now over $8. But often can find it at Walmart. It meets Ford specs too

Unless the filter is HUGE and holds way more oil, you cannot increase oil/crankcase capacity w/o overfilling creating major problems!!! o_O

Not true. If the OEM filter holds 1/2 quart internally and you replace it with a filter that holds a full quart internally, you have effectively increased your total oil capacity by 1/2 quart, if you fill to the same point on the dipstick. Not a lot, but still more.

Oil filters often don't have a lot of room around the allowing larger one, or forget it if cartridge filter.

So you are going to go to 11,052 miles in your hybrid, assuming you drive a lot of miles?

Oh no. Decided to hold off first oil and filter change until 850 miles. Almost there. Oil and larger filter standing by.
Driving in SPORT mode these first few months so the engine is always running and can reach operating temp to evaporate the crankcase condensation that happens when cold.
Not good for mileage, but good for the engine.

Had my 1st oil change at 10,160 and exactly one year anniversary. Remaining oil life left was right at 1%. Perfect timing! Likely will have 2nd oil change at 20,000 miles or there abouts. I did not need to add any top-off oil, as it was slightly above 1/2 quart low line.
